We GO LIVEĀ

18/4/2014

We've now gone live with our new website. We hope you enjoy the new look and the effort it has taken to get us to this point. Have a look around and be sure to tell us what you think about it as a whole and can you spot any changes such as new pages.

Snow!

19/1/2013

Forget the travel chaos and the kids having hope about school closing, enjoy it. Heavy snow has descended on England and Nonsuch didn't miss out, I've seen many of you sledging and having fun and some kids even tried to get me with snowballs whilst out with the camera.

My advice is get some great shots and enjoy yourself, scenic walk or snowball fun Nonsuch is the place this weekend, just come along.

Wrap up warm, socks, scarfs, hats and the rest, but make sure to read the signs put up in the park and obey by them, don't go walking on ice even if its the little pond in the nonsuch gardens. Please don't go to areas of the park such as near ponds alone, we don't want any accidents where no-one can reach you quickly.

Following the Nonsuch Trail

12/1/2013

Want something to do locally or going for a walk with friends, then why not consider walking the Nonsuch Trail, based within the grounds of Nonsuch and then exploring the old history of the Nonsuch palace as you walk. It's a great trail with markers along the way so you don't get lost. Afterwards visit the Nonsuch Mansion cafe and come visit the Nonsuch Gallery hosting an impressive model of the Palace itself.

Filling up

31/12/2012

Soggy boots, wet hair, smelly dog... yep its raining again, the level of dew pond have risen quickly and I don't even try and venture up to the large pond, If your lucky and maybe bring some binoculars you can see some winter visitors such as Redwing or Fieldfare  one of which I was lucky enough to see whilst taking this photo.

Reflections

29/12/2012

We've all experienced the dreadful rain these last few months, and many of you may have been put off coming into the the park, but rest assured with wellies and a raincoat you can still enjoy some beauty in Nonsuch. As the ponds and overflow channels fill up they create lovely reflections of the trees above. If you have any photos of reflections we'll love to see them. The ones below are from the dew pond near to the middle of the park.

Washed Away

26/12/2012

The rain has been heavy and relentless and so no surprise many of the channels which lay dry have refilled and eroded the sides. Therefore the gap between paths have become wider and hardly anyone can cross, therefore a bridge needs to be made so that we can pass over and the water can flow under.

UPDATE APRIL 2014
A replacement bridge near the ditch which feeds the Balancing Pond is planned and the oak to make a new one will soon be milled from the logs currently stacked outside the barn near the Boat Shed. This new bridge is planned to be built in a joint task by John Armitage and the Nonsuch Voles this summer.

Moles

22/12/2012

The moles seem to be doing well this year, that's good for them but is it for us? Some of you may have noticed the large amount of mole hills appearing on the Nonsuch Mansion lawn and other areas in the park, it's true to say the patches of mud are unsightly but we also have to look at this in a good way, and see the positives of a native British animal as so many foreign species such as the well known case of the grey sq
