Today marked the true start to Christmas in the park, about 60 - 100 Santas arrived for a fun run raising money for the St Raphael's Hospice. These events happen throughout the country and we are very happy for this event to happen several years in a row at Nonsuch. It felt like everyone enjoyed the hour and were happy to achieve a medal and a well d
At first I was baffled to what that orange and white bag was in the distance and so the inquisitive me went and cycled a bit closer. After reading the tag I noticed it was for orienteering taking place in the park today. I progressed further through my cycle ride I saw more and more markers and eventually people taking part in it, then I eventually found the start and end point by the Cheam car park.
The event is being run by the Lee Valley Orienteering team and so if you see these markers hopefully now you won't be as baffled as me. We thought Nonsuch Awarness Day was such Fun and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who organised the event as well as everyone who turned up on the day. Fortuantley the rain held off for the day meaning things like the tudor dancing, dog agility course and BMXing could go ahead and by the smiles on peoples faces it went down well. The Day also saw the arrival of the green flag for the park and this was put up on the flag pole during the day. Now we just have to wait for another year.
Were you down at the Nonsuch Park Awarness Day today? If so you would have enjoyed all the stalls and events. We - The Friends of Nonsuch- opened up our Museum, Nonsuch Gallery and even as a special one off for heritage weekend opened up and gave tours around the ground floor of the Mansion House. Below is a picture of one of the many amazing features inside the house.
Join the Friends of Nonsuch and other organisations to do with Nonsuch with this fun event including lots of things to do and even the opening of the Mansion house. Also come along to have a look at the Service Wing Museum and Nonsuch palace model for one of the last chances untill we close for Winter.
