HELP NEEDED The Friends are involved in a number of projects all staffed by volunteers If you think you can help us in any way please contact us. ..........NEEDED URGENTLY Our much valued Treasurer, John Garlick, who will soon be celebrating his 80th birthday, has decided that he must retire from his duties in the not so distant future. John has twice been treasurer of the Friends having “retired” once before. However, in 2006 when we were in difficulties during the illness of Christopher Willis (for whom John had much admiration), he came back to help temporarily. As often happens that temporary period extended and it became permanent when Christopher died. John is prepared to stay on to help and advise anyone willing to take on the job of Treasurer to our thriving organisation and would be delighted if a current member of the Friends would consider working with him initially. Another possibility would be if there was someone studying accountancy and interested in putting theory into practice by, again, working with John to get some useful experience. Two of the Trustees help with much of the banking. Registrar Pauline Innes is responsible for collecting subs, donations and deals with gift aid. She does all the paying in of monies in that area. Joyce Shaw, who is company secretary of Nonsuch Enterprises, deals with all the paying in for the events, etc. They both work closely with the Treasurer and this lightens the load. In order to find out more or if you can help in any way, please contact Sheila Ayliffe (Hon Secretary), as soon as possible on 8644 9297. MUSEUM SHOP For 2010 we are looking for any help you can offer with the shop in terms of stewardship and sourcing of items to sell. BOOK SALES The service wing opens once more in April 2010 and the sale of quality second hand books commences. We need help to assist with setting up our stall on 2nd & 4th Sundays, including Bank Holidays, from April to September, from 1.30pm, putting up six foot long tables and arranging books on same, reversing the procedure at 5pm. Can you spare a couple of hours, either 1.30pm – 3.30pm or 3pm – 5pm, or better still, 1.30pm – 5pm with a tea break! Please contact John on 020 8393 8024 – the proceeds from the sale of books is one of our main sources of income for the upkeep, repair and restoration of the service wing. We would appreciate donations of books from your overloaded bookshelves, or maybe your friends and neighbours would only be too pleased to make some space in their home? If you cannot deliver books yourself, collection can be arranged. Please contact Simon 01372 725 075 or John on 020 8393 8024. CONSERVATION GROUP A conservation group looks after the fabric of the building meeting at the Service Wing on Thursday mornings MUSEUM STEWARDS The museum requires help with stewarding during the summer months, designing and mounting displays, educational support and research projects To help with stewarding please contact Wendy Mayes - 020 8644 2455 TRUSTEES The overall management of the Friends is controlled by a committee of trustees who would always welcome additional help There are also many administrative functions such as fund raising, events & publicity, newsletter production which all need to be staffed.
